In early 1970 Jimi disbanded the
Band of Gypsies and decided to work with Mich Michell on drums again and after a short
discussion about using Noel Redding included Billy Cox on bass. This was once again a time
for change for Jimi and this was clearly reflected in his music. Check out the books on
Jimi and you will see that his personal life was not great and he had bouts of depression
because of problems with his music contracts and some of the women close to him. There
really is a clear change in the music - and one that stayed with him until the end.
Electric Ladyland had been built in this period and Jimi was using the studio even before
it was finished.
